The finerside is a Ventura County-based five-piece progressive rock band that plays a wide range of songs expressing both a heavier sounding pop sensibility as well as heartfelt emotion. Although each member comes from a unique background, collectively their influences are rooted in bands old and new such as The Cure, Deftones, Faith No More, and Weezer. Vocalist Zach Summerfield uses strong melodies that both lead and compliment songs at different times with lyrics of trials and tribulations most will be able to relate to. His personal influences include bands such as Blink 182, Mars Volta, and The Used. Drummer Ryan Cox keeps time often by using jazz-infused beats with a rock edge. He’s a throwback that brings the style of Led Zeppelin, Herbie Hancock, Lionel Ritchie, and Rush and makes it his own. Bassist Brian Carroll plays traveling bass lines that both lead and sustain the overall drive of each song with influences such as Jaco Pastorius and The Police. Finally guitarists Frank Elliott and Wes Pumphrey compose opposing guitar lines that collide in harmony, and span the entire spectrum of rock, metal, and pop both growing up listening to bands such as Glassjaw, Sunny Day Real Estate, Far, and Coheed and Cambria.
The finerside has rapidly become a favorite among their strong and loyal following. Previously their accolades have included shows at the infamous Key Club in Hollywood on the Sunset Strip as well as the 2003 LG Actionsports Championships where they performed with Simple Plan.
They are currently playing shows and recording material for their LP to be released toward the end of the year under the direction of Daniel Spizer.
