Nate Adams took gold at the LG World Championships of Freestyle Motocross on Saturday night at Fairplex in Pomona, California. For the second year in a row the World Championships of Freestyle Motocross treated the planet's best riders to the gnarliest course of the year.

By the time the BMX vert comp got under way, the field had shrunk to thirteen riders. Koji Kraft dropped out after a crash on the vert ramp in Sacramento two weeks ago left him on crutches. Dave Mirra had to pull after his park run during the LG park comp left him with a broken hand. Josh Harrington watched from the bleachers with a sprained ankle. And Eduardo Terreros, who smashed his face at last year’s LG ASC, fell during warm-up and suffered a broken ankle. Because of the tight field, prelims were cancelled and the finals went to a three-run format...

Marco de Santi came in with the heat barely cooled from his X Games silver medal, and, of course, the Yasutokos were all over the ramp as soon as the half pipe opened. To make it even more exciting, rumors were circulating that Marc Englehart and Shane Yost Shane Yost had new double flat spins that they were looking to unleash...

The smell of funnel cake and caramel corn hung around the vert ramp on the sticky afternoon of skateboard vert. Sandro Dias was determined to pull his 900 in the middle of his run, a feat that some people believed he could do, even though it had never been done before. Standing in his way was 03 LG gold medalist, Bucky Lasek and fellow Brazilian Bob Burnquist as well as Pierre-Luc Gagnon and the painfully consistent Andy Mac. Could he do it? As it turned out, we didn’t have to wait long to find out...
